Turquoise, green, aventurine, black and platinum Sea Globe

£275.00
Sold

Dimensions: H: 10.5cms D: 10.5cms

Clay: Earthenware

Technique: Slip cast

Glaze: Turquoise, green, black, aventurine, platinum

Sculpture / Non Functional

Earthenware Sea Globes are fired many times to create complex glazing designs that have been abstractly inspired by the coastline where I live and work.

This stunning globe inspired by the relationship between the land and sea has some beautiful glaze finishes achieved through fusing together colours at various temperatures during multiple firings. Finished with a turquoise and green glaze with white rippling inlaid into the soft tones contrast sharply against glossy and matt black and aventurine tones. During the final firing platinum detailing has been applied to the rim.

I complete very few Earthenware Sea Globes due to the success rate being low caused by the multiple firings and complex glazing designs. Each piece is unique and designed purely as a sculptural “objet d’art” / fine art ceramic sculpture and is not functional (i.e. should not be used as a vase).

Initialled on the base.
