Stoneware Vase (Under the Sea)
Dimensions H:28cms D:21cms
Clay: Stoneware
Technique: Hand thrown, sculptured
Glaze: Blue, grey, black, aventurine
Sculpture / Non Functional
GALLERY COLLECTION RECOMMENDED (please contact Richard ahead of purchasing if delivery is preferred)
Created as part of the “Under The Sea” collection of work that examines the consequences of rising sea levels and how my work might physically be transformed if left on the ocean bed for many years. This hand thrown sculpted vase has a basket weaving effect around the lower half of the form with coastal flora and crustacea added creating affect of the piece having been lying on the sea bed for many years.
Multiple firings have created a beautiful fusion of black, grey, blue and aventurine tones as if seen through the autumn waters in the local bay.
The piece is signed and initialled underneath with the year of it being made in the studio (2024).
