Green, aventurine, grey and platinum Sea Globe

£295.00
Sold

Dimensions: H: 10.5cms D: 10.5cms

Clay: Earthenware

Technique: Slip cast

Glaze: Green, aventurine, grey, black, platinum

Sculpture / Non Functional

Earthenware Sea Globes are fired many times to create complex glazing designs that have been abstractly inspired by the coastline where I live and work.

This stunning earthenware Sea Globe considers the relationship between the ocean and the coastal rock formations. It has been glazed with a beautiful combination of shaded greens cascading down onto a combination of grey, black and aventurine layers resembling rock stratum. During the final firing platinum detailing has been applied to the rim and around the circumference of the globe.

I complete very few Earthenware Sea Globes due to the success rate being low caused by the multiple firings and complex glazing designs. Each piece is unique and designed purely as a sculptural “objet d’art” and is not functional (i.e. should not be used as a vase).

Initialled on the base.
