This piece is abstractly inspired by the coastal woodlands here on the Pembrokeshire coast. Walks along the cliff paths that provide glimmers of a blue turquoise sea in the summer through the over hanging Pembrokeshire oaks. With a base glaze of verdant mottled green this globe has horizontal (unlike the vertical details on its sister globe) cascading tones that are creating through a reaction under the intense heat of the kiln and the chemicals in the glazes reacting creating pillars of blue tones falling from the rim. The piece has been finished with platinum detailing on the rim.
Fine bone china Sea Globes are handmade in my studio here on the Pembrokeshire coast. Their design stems from the Pembrokeshire coast where I live and work, capturing the essence of the dramatic landscape and ever changing scenery we experience here throughout the year.
