Blue and turquoise Sea Urn

£395.00
Sold

Dimensions: H: 15.5cms D: 10cms

Clay: Earthenware

Technique: Slip cast, hand thrown

Glaze: Blue, turquoise, gold

Sculptural / Not Functional

Sea Urns were designed and developed in 2018 in my studio here on the Pembrokeshire coast as a development of Sea Globes.

Made from earthenware clay, with hand thrown lids and sculpted fronds with a resemblance to sea anemones each piece has a unique style of glazing.

This Sea Urn has a beautiful fusion of turquoise and deep blue tones with gold detailing around the rim of the globe and the anemone like fronds. The intentional crazing of the glaze has been highlighted through further firing where black lustre has been used to detail the random crazing of the glaze.

The piece is initialled on the base.
