Please note: due to warping in the kiln this globe has an irregular non circular rim (slightly oval).
This fine bone china Sea Globe is a unique piece with a depth of dark glazing set on a heavy globe. The glazing style on this globe is usually reserved for earthenware pieces, however due to the weight of the piece it has been possible to fuse together multiple layers of black, green and aventurine glazes to create a cascade of subtle shades around the circumference of the globe which is finished with a glossy black glaze and gold detailing on the rim.
Fine bone china Sea Globes are handmade in my studio here on the Pembrokeshire coast. Their design stems from the Pembrokeshire coast where I live and work, capturing the essence of the dramatic landscape and ever changing scenery we experience here throughout the year.
