Black, blue, aventurine and gold Sea Globe

£245.00
Sold

Dimensions: H: 10.5cms D: 10.5cms

Clay: Earthenware

Technique: Slip cast

Glaze: Black, blue, aventurine, gold

Sculpture / Non Functional

Earthenware Sea Globes are fired many times to create complex glazing designs that have been abstractly inspired by the coastline where I live and work.

This beautiful earthenware Sea Globe inspired by the coastal landscape where morning dew and sunlight hitting the glistening rock formations creates stunning golden contrasts in the dark somber iron rich rock. Finished with a beautifully fused black and blue glaze, around the circumference of the globe is a strata of aventurine, grey and gold tones. During the final firing gold detailing has been applied to the rim of the globe.

I complete very few Earthenware Sea Globes due to the success rate being low caused by the multiple firings and complex glazing designs. Each piece is unique and designed purely as a sculptural “objet d’art” and is not functional (i.e. should not be used as a vase).

Initialled on the base.
